Today
Up with the light: early light, early morning.
Eggs, tea and e-mails: the tension of a Monday gently surging through a fluorescent lit office.
Conversations were never wholly attended to. They began, they may have gained a bit of ground, and then they were forgotten or unresolved.
The crowd at the gym brought out a sense of claustrophobia and the early shadow of darkness that encroached across the sky reminded you of winter’s impending reality.
If today were a cheese, it would be a cheddar of medium age. It took a bit of chewing to bring out the flavour before peaking in the early stages and then it turned to mush. The aftertaste was neither strong nor weak.
Just medium.
